Barbara Peterson earned a B.A. in Illustration while attending Florida State University. She later went on to complete her M.A. in Art Education, specializing in Computer Graphics, from the University of Central Florida. Her professional experience in the graphic design industry includes various illustration and freelance work for organizations such as Florida State University, Correct Craft Boats, Orange County, and Cypress Gardens.
Barbara began teaching as an adjunct instructor for Valencia Community College in 1977. She began teaching full-time for Valencia in 1988 and has since become the Program Director for the Graphics Technology Department. Barbara instructs various graphic design courses at Valencia to include Digital Media & Design, Layout & Design, Portfolio Review, and Internship.
Barbara remains involved when she is not teaching. She enjoys staying physically active in activities such as hiking, camping, snow-skiing, and water-skiing.
