Prerequisites: Minimum grades of C in (GRA 1203C or GRA 1540C) and GRA 2121 or departmental approval.
Fundamentals of single and multi-color layout and prepress production will be introduced. Traditional production techniques and current usage of a personal computer, software and peripherals will be studied. Course includes lecture and field trips to local graphic arts production and printing facilities.
The course includes the study of paper selection, inks, estimating, image assembly, platemaking, printing, finishing, and binding. Digital technology's impact on the graphic processes will also be explored. This course is excellent for those students that are degree seeking as well as professional graphic designers.
